You must work with an independent, SEAI Registered Technical Advisor before submitting an application for a grant for a heat pump system. Your Technical Advisor will perform a technical evaluation of your home and give you advice on the steps you should take to make it “heat pump ready,” or to minimise heat loss.

They will offer you unbiased advice on the steps you should take to ensure that the heat loss through the fabric of your home is reduced to an acceptable level so that a heat pump system can operate effectively and efficiently. A Heat Loss Indicator of 2 Watts/Kelvin/m2 is used to express the necessary heat loss level. A value of HLI up to 2.3

Watts/Kelvin/m2 can be accepted in some circumstances where upgrades might not be the most cost-effective option.
